Why “Forty Magpies”?
The name Forty Magpies was inspired by one of the peculiarities of the Russian language. In Russian, forty magpies is "сорок сорок" [sorok sorok]. Orthographically, this is the same word twice. When spoken, however, the syllables are stressed differently, changing the meaning.
